This was an inspiring project to work on with a group of great women. We looked at the idea of strong and powerful and used feminist posters from the 70’s as a visual reference point. The final images were shown at the Victor Harbor Council foyer.

a little story
a little while ago i was a different person with a different name and living in a different place. Then....everything changed. I became a person who had an experience of violence. And all of a sudden I needed to modify all my former certainties- that i had a home and community, that i knew about people and that i knew myself. Fast track a year or too and here I am. New name, new community and a new and wiser understanding of myself and my place in the world. There is a me pre change and post change. My work still explores the concepts that fascinate me - masking, movement, body and space, but the Emiko I am now is a little more older then the Emily I left behind. Older not just in age. Emiko Artemis. Its nice to be me.
